Water and Cameras, these are two things that don’t usually go well together, but these two elements are what make up the passion that drives Jake Mosholder.  Growing up, He was either recording his friend blow up plastic army men, or trying to rig a way to “safely” breathe under-water without destroying his parent’s camcorder.

Jake is a Virginia Commonwealth University graduate from the Kinetic Imaging department. While he was studying, he had the opportunity to be the first group of students in the new VCU TV/HD program where they had the opportunity to produce, direct, shoot, and edit documentaries that aired on the local Richmond PBS station. This provided great experience organizing shoots, getting together crews, setting up shots, working cameras, and then piecing everything together in what is his favorite part, editing.  After graduating in 2007, he was brought on to the WTVR CBS 6 team, where he started out on floor crew and very quickly worked his way into Creative Services department.  This was a great opportunity to continue learning how to produce, direct, shoot, and edit spots for local businesses on tight deadlines and low budgets.  After his contract with WTVR ended he found employment at Cavalier Telephone with a small marketing team creating commercials, mailers, radio spots, and other marketing strategies. Due to budget cuts within the company, his services were no longer needed.  Quickly he bounced back on his feet and found a job at M2 Pictures in Hampton, VA, as an assistant editor.  While there, Jake had the opportunity to work on some of the shows that aired on Investigation Discovery Channel and the History Channel. You can see some of these credits up on IMDB here.

So Jake is experienced in everything from pre to post-production. He knows Final Cut, Avid, and After Effects well, but is always eager and open to learning more.  The world of the moving image fascinates him, and his ultimate dream job would be filming and educating others on the preservation of coral reefs and other endangered environments around the world.
